The Tibetan refugee camp
in the Himalayan village of Dolanji
is the home of almost one thousand exiles, half of whom are children
- orphaned, semi-orphaned or coming from families which suffer dramatic
poverty.
Some of the boys live and study
in Bon Children’s Welfare Centre (BCWC) at the local monastery.
Some of them will become monks in future, but most will choose
lay life after graduating from the school.
The Bon Children’s
Home
(BCH) in the valley
accommodates at present more than 300 boys and girls between
4 and 20 years of age.
Many BCH children are still in need of individual
sponsors. Almost 100 girls must share beds due to insufficient
living space. Most of the children do not even have their own
lockers - all their personal belongings are kept in school backpacks
or boxes.
Every year about 20 newcomers
arrive to live at BCH. Only half of them can pursue secondary
education, and 6 % has a chance to study at universities.
All these children are helped by only six caregivers!
Due to the distance and dire poverty, most of the children never visit
their parents or vice versa. They miss their dearest and nearest
and dream about better future, hoping that some day they will
be able to support their families or help residents of their home villages.

Nyatri
– Fundacja Pomocy Dzieciom Tybetu focuses on supporting young
Tibetans from Dolanji with the assistance of volunteers,
Karmic Parents and its active members: scientists, journalists, doctors,
teachers, businessmen - common people who care for the future
of the poorest among the poor and some time ago decided to join forces
in order to become more efficient helpers.
The Foundation
operates in a number of areas,
always on
the voluntary and charity basis :

Adoption aims
to enrich the life of BCH children, making them happier, more optimistic
and more focused on their study and work for better future.
It also gives the sponsors ample opportunity to get in touch
with children under their care by exchanging leters and
photographs. On one hand, a child involved in the program
feels happier knowing that somebody far away, at the other end of the
world, supports it with warm thoughts; on the other
hand, the sponsors truly enjoy friendly relations with their karmic
children. Some of the Karmic Parents have even decided to go to India
to visit the Home and personally meet their Tibetan children.
- Nyatri
Education In
October 2007, the Nyatri Foundation completed the first
stage of its education project. Holders of Nyatri scholarships
continue education in the U.S.A. and India The second stage of the project
focuses on providing college education in India for young people who
come of age. Nyatri aims to provide university education scholarships
for all eligible BCH children.

for Dolanji Head
of BCH Nyima Dakpa Rinpoche told us that BCH children urgently
need shoes and clothes - especially those who have recently come
to the Home and/or do not have their Karmic Parents yet. ...

Reunion This project
focuses at supporting family bonds between the youngest residents
of the Bon Children's Home and their Tibetan families ....

Medicare
We developed this programme to provide basic medical and dental care
for residents of Bon Children's Home ....

Assistance
helps to improve low living standards at BCH and to develop a Home which
will be then able to host more children, giving them a chance to study
and learn a profession. Thanks to our sponsors, BCH children obtain
scholarships for studying or support for learning a job.
